Classic style shouldn't be a tight fit. Our collection of driving hats, ivy caps, and flat hats is custom-sized for head sizes 7 ½ up to 8 ¾ (4XL). Whether you’re looking for a sophisticated Harris Tweed Longshoreman or a casual Beige Melange Ivy Cap, these caps feature the extra crown depth needed for a comfortable, refined look that standard sizes can't provide.
This timeless style, often called a cabbie cap, newsboy, or golf cap, is a rounded cap with a low profile and a small, stiff brim. While the look dates back to 14th-century England, it remains the gold standard for men who want to "class up" their wardrobe. At The Big Hat Store, we specialize in these one-of-a-kind hats in sizes that are nearly impossible to find anywhere else.
Many of our driving caps, including our Wigens brand hats, are designed in Sweden and custom-made in Europe. We prioritize high-quality wool for several reasons:
Hypoallergenic: Naturally resistant to mold, mildew, and dust mites.
Temperature Regulating: Wool is breathable in the summer and insulating in the winter.
Ear Flaps for Winter: Several of our satin-lined caps feature hidden ear flaps for extra warmth during the colder months.
From the "bunnet" in Scotland to the "Dai cap" in Wales, the flat cap has many names but one purpose: functional style. Originally made mandatory by the English Parliament in 1571 to stimulate wool consumption, the cap has evolved into a global fashion staple. Our Grey Pub Caps and Newsboy Classics continue this legacy, providing a "crushable" and packable option for everything from formal dinner parties to casual strolls.
